LG Electronics has shown off its first Android based mobile phone, just a week after it announced plans for three new Windows Mobile based smartphones. The new android OS based LG-GW620 features a 3-inch full touchscreen and slide out QWERTY keypad.
"The LG-GW620 will appeal to first-time smartphone customers by offering a new and different kind of user experience," said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. "Our objective is to provide a wide selection of smartphones to satisfy the diverse preferences of today's consumers. This Android phone is just one of many smartphone models we plan to introduce worldwide in the years ahead."
In addition to the Android model, LG announced in early September that it will be introducing a minimum of 13 new smartphones over the next 16 months that utilize Microsoft's Windows Mobile. The newest release, version 6.5, was announced just last week.
The LG-GW620 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year in select European markets. Pricing and technical specifications are still to be confirmed.

KARACHI : Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has started up-gradation work in surrounding of Main Khayaban-e-Sahar in the limits of Masri Shah Telephone Exchange. A release of the company said the due to the up-gradation work the telecomm services might be disturbed intermittently and hopefully the work would be completed within a week. PTCL regrets for any inconvenience, it added.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has seized networks of illegal gateway exchanges in Karachi and Islamabad, which were causing loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.

PTA and FIA’s National Response Center for Cyber Crimes (NR3C) in Karachi and Islamabad launched crack down on the networks of illegal gateway exchanges and arrested two persons at Karachi and one at Islamabad. The raids were conducted based on the information obtained through PTA facility which detects grey (illegal) telephone traffic.

Chairman PTA, Dr. Mohammed Yaseen while appreciating the joint efforts of PTA and FIA teams, has given directions to PTA Zonal Offices to expedite action on such illegal activities by conducting raids throughout Pakistan.
